Saturday, June 22, 2013, 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. BCA Center for Buddhist Education presents: "Over the Rainbow – The LGBT Community & Shin Buddhism," a One-Day Seminar. Featuring guest speakers, panel presentations, small group discussions, resources, and more.

Japanese for Heritage Speakers
The Oakland Nippongo Gakuen is forming a Japanese for Heritage Speakers class. This course is intended for young students (generally in the range of 8-10 years old) who regularly speak some Japanese at home.

The class is ideal for students who wish to maintain their basic conversational skills by regularly interacting with a native Japanese instructor and other Japanese speaking classmates only in a Japanese speaking environment. Elementary level reading and writing skills will also be part of the curriculum. Some knowledge of conversational Japanese or consent of the instructor is a prerequisite.

Classes are tentatively planned to begin in October on Saturday afternoons, 1:00 -3:00 pm. Those interested in this class should contact Jon Takagaki by e-mail at LTAKAGAKI@yahoo.com, by phone in the evenings at 510-769-2975, or contact the temple office.
